Yesterday, officers responded to reports of a female in distress at the River Gardens. On arrival, our Sergeant located the woman visibly distressed and was then joined by one of our PCSO’s. Shortly afterwards she entered the water.
The officers acted swiftly to pull her to safety and ensured she received immediate care at the scene. She has since been appropriately safeguarded with support from partner agencies.
We’d like to thank the members of the public who contacted us and provided vital information and to the member of the public who remained with the female at the side of the water until officers arrived. If you ever see someone in distress, please call for help – your actions can help save lives.
